Grand jury indicts Trump in case of alleged hush payments

An investigative jury accused Donald Trump in the case that is being followed in New York for alleged payments in exchange for the silence of adult film actress Stormy Daniels, with whom he would have had an extramarital affair, something he has always denied. This is the first time in US history that a sitting or former president will face criminal charges.

Trump is expected to appear for his arraignment on Tuesday, multiple sources told CNN.

The accusation was presented sealed and will be shared in the coming days. The charges are not publicly known at this time, a source told CNN.

However, two people connected to the case revealed that Trump faces more than 30 counts related to business fraud in the grand jury indictment.

Trump is likely to appear in court early next week, according to his defense attorney Joe Tacopina.

The Manhattan district attorney’s office has been investigating the former president in connection with his alleged role in a scheme to silence Daniels ahead of the 2016 presidential election. This entity will contact Trump’s lawyers to discuss his surrender ahead of facing an arraignment.
