A group of immigrants from the Mexican side of the border attempted to cross the Paso Del Norte International Bridge

A large group of people on the Mexican side of the border formed up and approached the international border in El Paso on Sunday afternoon in an attempt to enter the United States en masse, according to US Customs and Border Protection. United States (CBP).

“CBP works to maintain the legal and orderly flow of entry into the United States while protecting the security of legitimate trade and travel, CBP facilities, and its workforce.

“CBP agents, including members of the CBP Mobile Field Force, implemented port tightening measures at the Paso Del Norte International Bridge at 1:30 p.m. today and temporarily impeded the flow of northbound traffic after that a large group of people formed on the Mexican side of the border and approached the international border, posing a potential threat to make a mass entry,” CBP said in a statement obtained by CNN late Sunday.

The agency also noted that physical barriers were used to restrict entry on the Paso del Norte bridge but it reopened a few hours later on Sunday night.
