Mariana Rosales Duque, also known as the CEO of the #1 US eco-fashion firm Maríana Rosales Design, is a Venezuelan entrepreneur with a resilient and courageous spirit who has been in the eco-fashion industry for 6 years.
Based in the United States for the past 3 years, Mariana is also a mother of three, a dentist, and a systemic therapist, a true multi-tasker. However, her main focus is on the transformative power of love and how it can positively influence our lives.
The inspiration behind Mariana Rosales Design came from facing the stark reality of the global plastic problem. Aware that the textile industry is the second most polluting industry after the oil industry, Mariana decided to take action.
Mariana Rosales Design’s business began with a dream that led her to open her sewing workshop approximately 10 years ago. After learning and overcoming obstacles, she finally launched her brand 6 years ago in Venezuela. Then, she moved to the United States 3 years ago and expanded her presence in the U.S. market, even selling on Amazon.
“About 10 years ago I started a sewing workshop in the back of my house. I started making uniforms for a restaurant chain. I took courses in cutting, sewing, and pattern making and I immersed myself in the world of clothing. I learned a lot and then I decided to start my firm Mariana Rosales Design, MRD, Materiales Reciclados Duraderos,” Mariana comments.
Each Mariana Rosales Design garment is a masterpiece of sustainability. Made from the equivalent of 7 plastic bottles, these garments use eco-friendly fabrics and threads and water-based vegetable inks for their prints. They have earned all the quality certificates such as OEKO-TEX and Global Recycled Standard 4.0, which guarantee the clothing is safe for consumers as they are hypoallergenic.
The labels are made from recycled sugar cane paper, and the packaging is biodegradable, which means it composts to the earth. In addition, Mariana ensures that her workers enjoy decent conditions, good salaries, and job stability because she believes that a happy worker is essential for providing the best value to their clients.
Mindset plays a crucial role in Mariana’s success. For her, a positive attitude and belief in oneself are fundamental to having clarity on the path to success. She firmly believes that thoughts control emotions, emotions control behavior and behavior controls results.
“The important thing is to never stop believing in yourself!” Mariana says.
Her advice for those who want to start their own business or brand is clear: believe in yourself and enjoy the process without obsessing about results. Listening to your heart and having the courage to pursue your dreams are keys to success.
Fear is for Mariana a fuel for personal growth. She sees it as the adrenaline you need to overcome challenges and obstacles in life. Facing fear with courage always brings rewards.
“Without fear, there is no success, when something scares you you must do it because no matter what happens you can always say I dared and I feel that the universe always rewards generously to brave people like ME!” Mariana expresses.
